Lunch With Some Friends

… and Big Health Insurance Changes

Every now and then, I’m reminded how blessed I am to have the job I do.  Earlier this month, I gave a presentation to the Baton Rouge Rotary Club. They are one of the largest of the 30,000 Rotary Clubs worldwide and home to over 500 businesses in the Capital area. Baton Rouge’s Rotary has been together since 1918! Speaking to them is always a privilege.

The topics this time were very timely and will soon affect everyone’s health insurance. I covered the ongoing Medicaid redetermination in Louisiana, which will ultimately result in as many as 350,000 people having to find new health insurance. I also was able to speak about the Family Glitch Fix, which will provide employees’ dependents and spouses a path to affordable, high-quality health insurance.

The huge cost effects to your premiums from all the regulatory-driven project work coming down from Washington, D.C. on insurance companies and hospitals was another topic I was able to touch upon. I also presented on the ongoing trend of state and federal government shifting medical risks away from themselves and onto health insurance companies (like the one you likely use).

We’ve linked the video here and hope you enjoy it! Remember, if your viewing sparks any questions, feel free to comment below, and I’ll answer them as quickly as I can! I look forward to your feedback.
