Every so often, I go on WRKF’s Talk Louisiana with Jim Engster and talk about what’s happening in health insurance, healthcare reform and other topics on. I was on the air just this week when I got this question:
Since early 2013, when we got the final rules for employers offering health insurance coverage under the Affordable Care Act, I have spoken to and met personally with literally thousands of employers to help them understand their compliance burdens under the ACA as business owners. Many of them were, and still are, Blue Cross customers. I want to take this opportunity to thank you for your loyalty to us. And because you’ve stuck with us, I want to tell you Straight about an ACA issue coming up now that could affect you.
In case you missed it, congressional Republicans are fast-tracking through normal procedures a couple of draft bills that could have huge impacts on the Affordable Care Act. Though not as ambitious as the original ACA, which was more than 2,800 pages long, the American Health Care Act (which the two draft bills together make up, btw) would change a lot in a relatively brief 122 pages.
There is a lot of doom and gloom out there right now about what is going to happen to the Affordable Care Act (ACA) under a Republican president with a Republican majority in Congress. So, what is really happening, and what can you expect?
